Examining Measurement Invariance in Bayesian Item Response Theory Models: A Simulation Study

چکیده

The aim of the study is to determine a measurement invariance cut-off point based on item parameter differences in Bayesian Item Response Theory Models. Within this scope, Bayes factor estimated for testing invariance. For purpose, simulation conducted. data were generated R software each condition under one-parameter logistic model 10 binary (1-0 scored) items. test was performed various group sizes (n=500, 1000, 1500 and 2000) difficulty parameters (dk=0, dk=0.1, dk=0.3, dk=0.5 dk=0.7). analyzes WINBUGS using codes written R. A that provides evidence calculated depending differences. Savage–Dickey density ratio, one MCMC sampling schemas, used calculate factor. As result, if difference dk=0.3 are or larger, cannot be achieved. However, small sample (n=1000 less) interpretation should done carefully. When dk=0.5, there invariant items only n=500. According results, has been produced when dk=0.7

Randomized Item Response Theory Models

The randomized response (RR) technique is often used to obtain answers on sensitive questions. A new method is developed to measure latent variables using the RR technique because direct questioning leads to biased results. Within the RR technique is the probability of the true response modeled by an item response theory (IRT) model. The RR technique links the observed item response with the tr...

a study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns

attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...

Item response theory for measurement validity

Item response theory (IRT) is an important method of assessing the validity of measurement scales that is underutilized in the field of psychiatry. IRT describes the relationship between a latent trait (e.g., the construct that the scale proposes to assess), the properties of the items in the scale, and respondents' answers to the individual items. This paper introduces the basic premise, assum...

Item response theory and clinical measurement.

In this review, we examine studies that use item response theory (IRT) to explore the psychometric properties of clinical measures. Next, we consider how IRT has been used in clinical research for: scale linking, computerized adaptive testing, and differential item functioning analysis. Finally, we consider the scale properties of IRT trait scores. We conclude that there are notable differences...

Confirmatory factor analysis and item response theory: two approaches for exploring measurement invariance.

This study investigated the utility of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and item response theory (IRT) models for testing the comparability of psychological measurements. Both procedures were used to investigate whether mood ratings collected in Minnesota and China were comparable. Several issues were addressed. The first issue was that of establishing a common measurement scale across groups...
